Businesses invited to join Jersey WellFest

05 June 2018

Jersey businesses and charities are invited to get involved in a two-day event to promote Islanders’ mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

The inaugural Jersey WellFest, at Les Ormes on Friday, 26 and Saturday, 27 October, will be a free public event at which visitors can discover and try out services and activities that support their overall wellbeing.

Planning is at an early stage, but Jersey WellFest will include:

  • workshops, taster sessions and inspirational talks
  • interactive exhibits, stalls and activities
  • an arena with displays and presentations
  • a refreshment area offering healthy drinks and snacks

Organisations have until Friday 15 June to express their interest, although no firm commitment is required at this stage.

The Director of System Redesign and Delivery at Health and Social Services, Rachel Williams, said: “There has already been a great deal of interest. Some people have offered to give a presentation or talk and others want to have a stand in the main hall – all participants are passionate about improving our wellbeing. We are expecting several thousand visitors over the two days and want the event to be fun and informative.”

Friday will be tailored to school-age children, while Saturday’s talks and activities will be aimed at all ages, including families and the elderly.

“Looking after ourselves is important,” she said. “It helps us be stronger and more able to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life. It’s sometimes difficult to know where to go for help or what to do – if you come along to Jersey WellFest you will be able to ask questions and try out new activities. The event has been designed based on feedback from Islanders. It is an excellent opportunity for businesses and charities to showcase their work, and I hope people will enjoy it and find it a valuable use of their time.”
