Green Street one-way decision signed

The Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Kevin Lewis, has signed a Ministerial Decision confirming that Green Street will become one-way.

A temporary one-way system was introduced early this year during roadworks, and following a States Assembly decision in June, the change will be made permanent.

This means that from south of the Cedars, traffic will only be able to use Green Street northbound (away from the sea), with the following exceptions:

• motorists can access the Cedars, Maison La Corderie and the Limes from either Green Street roundabout or Havre des Pas, but must exit northbound via the roundabout
• motorists can access the shops at Clos des Pas from the south, but can exit either northbound towards the roundabout or southbound towards Havre des Pas
• buses, bicycles and emergency service vehicles can continue to use Green Street southbound for the full length of the road

Deputy Lewis said: “This Ministerial Decision meets the requirements of the States Assembly’s decision while minimising the adverse effects it could have on cyclists, buses, the emergency services, and businesses.

"As Minister for Infrastructure I have to consider the wider impact of decision, which has been signed following consultation with the Parish of St Helier, the States of Jersey Fire Service and LibertyBus.”

Green Street will be closed for Jersey Electricity roadworks during the autumn half term holiday for approximately one week. When the road reopens, the new system will be in place.

Bus services will be unaffected by the change.​
