Modern agricultural buildings (planning policy note)

​​​This guidance document sets out policy guidance to be applied to proposals for the construction and re-use of modern agricultural buildings.

If you want to construct a new agricultural building, you will have to satisfy a number of criteria relating to:​

  • agricultural need
  • environmental impact
  • compatibility with surrounding uses
  • disposal of foul sewage and surface water drainage
  • service provision
  • access
