Island Outcome Indicators: reasons for change
We have been working on a new method to present the Island Outcome Indicators.
The current tabular presentation of the Island Outcome Indicators using
Clear Impact shows data on 193 indicators, gives a detailed time series and commentary for each. However, Clear Impact struggles to describe how the Island is faring overall: is life in Jersey getting better or worse?
The new chart has 71 Indicators; but displays them all at once and gives each a
Red / Amber / Green (RAG) status. Each Indicator's RAG shows whether its trend is improving, stable or worsening. The Indicators aggregate, to give a RAG to each Outcome and Pillar. Hovering over an individual Indicator tile produces a pop-up window showing the Indicator's time series.
While the total number of Indicators in the new chart is reduced, the overall understanding of life in Jersey is enhanced.
We are running this new presentation in parallel with the original Clear Impact presentation for a period to gather user feedback; in due course we intend to turn off Clear Impact and use the new method only. If you have feedback, please email statistics@gov.je
