​What Advance Plus​​​ is

Advance Plus is an employment scheme offered through Back to Work which is designed to make it easier for you to find a job.  

It offers training courses in specific areas such as:

  • care
  • fund and trust administration
  • business and office administration
  • retail

These training courses are followed by a work-experience placement with a local employer.

​Who Advance Plus is for​​​

Advance Plus is available to anyone who is registered as actively seeking work and locally qualified for work.  

You will be expected to prove that you are keen to improve your skills in one of the training areas and committed to finding a job.

What Advance Plus involves

When you join Advance Plus, you will be assigned an employment advisor (if you don't have one already) who will work with you to:

  • support you throughout your time on the scheme
  • help you develop your CV
  • arrange your work placement
  • help you search and apply for jobs

Training is an important part of Advance Plus and is tailored to the needs of local businesses. It is delivered by experts and designed to prepare you for your work placement. Some schemes give you the opportunity to complete qualifications.

​Care Scheme

​Training: up to two weeks

The training will cover:

  • Essence of Care, Codes of Practice and Data Protection
  • Infection Control
  • Clinical Care Skills
  • Palliative Care
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Challenging Behaviour
  • Health and Safety
  • Manual Handling and Moving
  • Food Safety
  • Emergency First Aid

Placement: up to eight weeks

​You will attend a suitable work placement.

Many clients are offered a job as a result of their work placement.

Business Administration (with ILM accreditation) Scheme

​Training: up to three weeks

​The training will cover:

  • Business Administration and Documents
  • Workplace Communication
  • Performance Management
  • Effective Meetings
  • Dealing with Workplace Change
  • Project Management Skills
  • Time Management
  • ILM exam
​Placement: up to six weeks

​You will attend a suitable work placement.

Many clients are offered a job as a result of their work placement.
