About the network

The School Council Network was established in response to a recommendation from the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry .
The School Council Network brings together students from primary and secondary school councils in Jersey.
The purpose of the School Council Network is to give children and young people the opportunity to meet and learn from each other and have a voice in policies and decision making.
At the School Council Network meetings, students:
discuss and share opinions on issues important to them contribute their ideas engage in policy decisions solve problems and learn about each other’s school councils meet Ministers and policy makers Students share and feedback the work that they do at the network with their schools.
Voice of the students Students shared their views with the Children's Outcomes Executive Committee on how the Government can help all children to have the best life possible.

Activity Training Toolkit
Students can meet with Ministers at the School Council Network meetings and be part of question-and-answer sessions.

Network meetings The School Council Network meets 4 times during the school year.
There is also a fun networking event for students to get to know each other better.

How you can join You must be part of your school council to join the School Council Network.
Most schools run elections at the start of the school year for students to form their councils.
All students who come to the network will do online training so they understand:
the Participation Standards their Rights their role on the School Council Network how they can make a difference Projects we’re working on Children, Young People and Families Plan Online safety Fort Regent play spaces Inclusion and education Youth Friendly Budget Jersey's new Play Plans Previous projects The School Council Network Annual Report has been published, which highlights their work for 2024 - 2025.
