​Who needs to register

Childcare providers must apply to become registered if they want to operate under certain conditions. There are also exceptions for which registration is not required. Find information on how to become a registered provider.

We try to keep the lists below as up to date as possible. Contact us if you’re aware of any changes or need more information.

Childcare providers or clubs which do not need to be registered are not listed below.

Private nurseries

Private nurseries, or Early Years providers, offer day care to children from birth to school age. Children access full time school on the school term they become 5. Most nurseries are open all year-round and closed on public holidays. Some nurseries operate on a term time only basis.

School nurseries

Most of our public primary schools have a nursery class. These nurseries provide care to children in the year before they start Reception. They are open term time only.

Holiday, breakfast, after school and activity clubs

Childhood clubs in Jersey, or childhood provider, care for children aged 3 to 12 years old:

• before school
• after school
• during school holidays

The age range depends on the club and activity offered.

Children who have completed their pre-school year can access a holiday club during the summer holidays prior to starting Reception.

The clubs listed below can be breakfast or after school clubs, holiday clubs, or a combination of all 3.

Activity Clubs

These clubs can offer single or multiple activities to children. They can be an art club, a digital club, an adventure club, sports club or others.
