La Collette commercial recycling facilities

​Access roads and gate fees

There are two roads into the site:

Department for Infrastructure (DFI) Weighbridge, for commercial customers delivering:

  • non-recyclable inert waste
  • organic waste
  • clean plasterboard
  • asbestos

AAL Recycling Ltd, for customers delivering:

  • recyclable aggregates
  • glass
  • topsoil
  • to the Household Green Waste Reception (householders only)

Gate fees and customer accounts

Recyclable aggregates are charged by AAL Recycling Ltd.

Customers who deliver non-recyclable inert waste to DFI and recyclable aggregates to AAL Recycling Ltd, will need to set up accounts with both DFI and AAL Recycling Ltd.

Recyclable builders' rubble

 You can recycle clean:

  • stone
  • sand
  • concrete

You should deliver these materials to AAL Recycling Ltd at La Collette. You'll need to contact AAL Recycling Ltd to set up a customer account as charges apply.

You should deliver inert waste that can't be recycled to the inert waste infill site at La Collette. Charges apply.

Garden and green waste

Commercial vehicles must deliver waste to the commercial green waste reception site at La Collette. There is a charge per tonne for delivering green waste into this facility.

Non-compostables

Some materials are not compostable or are unsuitable for our composting process. Please ensure any green waste you deliver into our sites does not contain:

  • metals
  • plastics
  • animal faeces
  • soiled animal bedding
  • treated or processed wood
  • wooden posts or fencing
  • large stones
  • glass
  • string

Harmful plants

There are also some plants that may be harmful to humans, animals and the composting process. The following plants are considered 'noxious weeds' and should not be thrown away with other green or garden waste:

  • ragwort
  • broad and curly leaf dock
  • Japanese knotweed
  • bracken

Glass

You can recycle these items at AAL Recycling Ltd at La Collette:

  • clean bottles (no corks)
  • clean jars (no lids)
  • glass from windows and doors (no frames)

Pallet boards

You can deliver pallet boards to the commercial green waste site at La Collette. There is a charge.

To arrange collection of pallet boards, you can contact:

You can take other wooden packaging to the bulky waste facility at La Collette.

Plasterboard

You should take plasterboard to the commercial green waste site. There is a charge. 

We inspect all loads, so you must remove all:

  • foam
  • foil
  • other contaminants 

If we reject a load, you must return it to your depot or take it to a third party for cleaning or sorting.

Agricompost trials using plasterboard

The plasterboard we collect for recycling, will be used in advanced trials to produce a gypsum enhanced agricompost for local agricultural use. This is why all plasterboard we accept must be clean.

Energy from Waste plant, Bulky Waste Facility and Commercial Recycling Centre

Small amounts of the following recyclables can be delivered to the Commercial Recycling Centre next to the Bulky Waste Facility:

  • car batteries (up to three)
  • trade batteries
  • cardboard (up to 10. If you have more, you should take them to Reclamait Ltd, Rue des Pres Trading Estate)
  • catering oil: located in the Tipping Hall
  • fluorescent tubes and light bulbs (up to five)
  • metals: small quantities and small items only (you should take large items or deliveries to the scrapyard)
  • electrical items (up to five. If you have more, contact the recycling officer before arriving)
  • TVs, computer monitors and laptops (up to five. If you have more, contact the recycling officer before arriving)
  • paper (small quantities only. If you have a large amount, take it to Reclamait Ltd, Rue des Pres Trading Estate)
  • plastic bottles (small quantities only. If you have a large amount, take it to Reclamait Ltd, Rue des Pres Trading Estate)
  • textiles (small quantities only)

You will need a Weighbridge Pass​ to access this facility.
