Who needs to apply to transport pets
Only air carriers with an Air Operator Certificates (AOC) to carry fee paying passengers can be approved to transport pets to Jersey, including:
Privately operated aircrafts cannot be approved.
An approved air carrier can transport pets to Jersey from any airport in:
We may consider other countries on request but they must be a 'Part 1' or 'Part 2' listed country. Find more details on listed countries on bringing your pet dog, cat or ferret to Great Britain on GOV.UK.
Pets must be accompanied by the owner, or a person authorised by the owner, and be part of the owner's move to Jersey.
Commercial dog and cat moves are not covered by this approval process. Other rules apply and you should contact the Animal Health and Welfare Team.
If you transport pets, or assistance dogs to Jersey, you're responsible for checking they meet pet travel rules.
You can employ a third party to carry out checks on your behalf. However you need to provide training to any additional pet checkers.
You do not need an approval to transport accompanied pets to Jersey from:
- Great Britain
- the Isle of Man
- the other Channel Islands
- Republic of Ireland
- Northern Ireland
The cost to make your application is £414. This fee is subject to change on an annual basis.

Required Method of Operation (RMOP)
After you submitted your application you must agree a Required Method of Operation (RMOP) with us. The RMOP describes how you work with the customer, the airport and if using a pet checker to check and make sure pets meet the pet travel scheme rules.
To agree an RMOP you must complete the application for an Airline Carrier Approval and:
- if you're not going to carry out the pet travel scheme checks, agree a service level contract with a pet checker.
All Pets Veterinary Centre can offer this service and has trained staff who can check pet passports on your behalf. Once All Pets has agreed in principle to be your pet checker you can submit your application with their details and we will then provide them your RMOP number so that they can prepare a service level agreement for you to sign with All Pets
- if you're going to carry out the checks on arrival yourself, explain how you'll carry out the checks and train your staff
If you meet the RMOP conditions and your request is approved, you'll receive an Approval for the pet travel scheme and will be listed on our website.
Your approval is subject to regular reviews and it may be withdrawn or suspended if pets are detected on arrival that do not meet the requirements and you stop meeting the conditions of your RMOP.
Change in circumstances
Once you're approved you must tell us if you:
- change your contact details
- change your company name
- stop accepting pets
If you're a commercial sea carrier wanting approval to transport pets, email the
Animal Health and Welfare Team.
Private boats cannot be approved carriers.
