Broad Street public realm improvements

About the project

Broad Street phase 1 includes the development of the Grande Rue district.

Our aim is to:

  • prioritise walking and create more comfortable routes for pedestrians
  • enhance the areas character, identity and greening
  • create an appealing space for business and visitors

Phase 1  will include:

  • pedestrian priority area with quality paving throughout and a flush walking space
  • bespoke furniture for biodiversity planting areas and opportunities for varied seating, incorporating details that reference local history and identity
  • new lighting and more efficient use of other street furniture

It will create a gateway to the future Broad Street space and will function as a gateway, including:

  • reduced access width will allow two-way cycling
  • morning deliveries until 10am
