About the project
The Liquid Waste Capital Delivery Team from the department for Infrastructure and Environment (IE) will undertake essential repairs and upgrades to the drainage network in St Ouen.
IE have recently completed a survey of the drainage infrastructure in the L’Etacq, Les Laveurs, Milano and Portinfer catchments. The survey identified existing foul sewers in a deteriorated condition and evidence of ground water infiltration.
The St Ouen drainage infrastructure repairs and upgrades aims to reline approximately 6,500 metres of drainage infrastructure throughout the Parish of St Ouen. The work is due to start on Monday 20 November 2023 and continue until April 2024.
The damaged or defective drainage infrastructure will be rehabilitated by relining the sewer using trenchless methods of construction which avoids the requirement for excavations and extensive disruption. Sewer relining restores the integrity of the drainage infrastructure to avoid pipe failure or collapse and eliminates ground water infiltration which reduces the capacity of the foul sewerage network.
The relining process requires access to manholes and buried chambers to reline the drainage infrastructure. Once installed, the liner will extend the lifespan and performance of the system.
Schedule of work and traffic management
There will be road closures and portable traffic signals in place. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
We’ll avoid using traffic management on Saturday and Sunday nights, and bank holidays.
Drain It Limited, IE’s appointed contractor, will contact the local properties before each road closure to:
- confirm the programme dates
- access requirements
- provide contact details for any queries or concerns
Working hours
There will be 2 working hours:
- Day working hours from Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm or Saturday 8am to 1pm
- Night working hours from Monday to Friday 7pm to 6am
Traffic management will be in place on the following roads. We'll update the information with more details closer to the start and during the project.
