About the project
La Motte Street has suffered from unstructured parking and drop off, which causes problems for buses using the street and creates risks to pedestrians trying to cross the road between vehicles stopped in undesignated areas.
The street paving consists of concrete slabs which are not up to modern standards and problematic to maintain.
The improved street will be easy for all to walk along as well as providing an onward link from the Hill Street contraflow cycle route. Investment in a good quality public realm has benefited the economy of other streets in town, as well their users' quality of life.
More information can be found on the Public Realm and Moving Strategy report.
