Sector-specific training courses
Skills Jersey works with local businesses and different business sectors to provide or design training to upskill employees.
We can fund up to 75% of the training cost so you only need to pay the remaining.
These courses are provided to help employees with entitled or entitled for work
residential status.
Digital Jersey courses
Courses that are linked to the subsidised skills training programme will be advertised as ‘Supported by the Government of Jersey – Skills Jersey’.

Level 3 Award in electric and hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement
These 2-day courses are accredited by the Institute of the Motoring Industry and will be delivered in Jersey by Highlands College.
To apply you’ll need to have an existing IMI Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification, or equivalent, and be currently employed in the car industry.
Skills Jersey are paying 75% of the training cost.

Apply for funding for skills shortages in your sector
If you identify skills gap or shortages in an industry you can apply for funding to offer a training course to the whole sector. Funding can also be used towards a project.
Your application must meet the funding criteria:
- a skills shortage exists in this area
- evidence of attracting more entitled or entitled for work people into the industry
- evidence of upskilling current entitled or entitled for work staff
- the delivery partner chosen evidenced as being most cost effective or value for money
- evidence of satisfactory performance or review measures
To request funding you must be an:
- industry body
- organisation working with or representing many businesses
- individual business showing benefit in the training or initiative for other businesses in your sector
If you receive funding, your offer must be open to all businesses in your sector.
Applying for funding
Your application will need to provide a breakdown showing the cost of each individual element:
- trainer cost, including hours breakdown
- venue hire
- accreditation
- equipment hire
- travel and accommodation
You’ll also need to give a summary of why you selected this training or service provider and have considered:
- price
- quality
- testimonials from other people
- if not a local based provider, an explanation of why this is not the case
- if likely to be an ongoing service, evidence of how this could become sustainable on Island
We’ll only consider request for support with marketing or administration costs if itemised in detail.
We will not give funding for basic mandatory training such as food hygiene, manual handling or safeguarding training.
Once received your application will be assessed by the funding review panel.
