Brighter Futures: parenting support services

What is Brighter Futures?

Brighter Futures (charity number 320) is a targeted support service.

We support children, young people and families with parenting and life challenges. We generally work with the main carer. The aim is to enable child development and parent/carer/child wellbeing.

We offer a range of personal development, educational and second chance learning programmes. These are delivered through group sessions and individual support.

Our vision is to build a brighter future for the whole family.

Support during the coronavirus pandemic

We are supporting clients via video, phone calls, texts and if necessary door step visits.

We are also providing basic essentials where necessary, signposting as appropriate (and relevant) to other services.

Our values

Support - we support clients to recognise and value their role as their child's first and most important educator

Empower - we work with clients to empower them to take ownership of their personal and educational development

Encourage - we encourage all clients to achieve wellbeing and healthy relationships

Our approach

Our approach works with our client's strengths, is co-produced and focuses on solutions.

We work with our clients acknowledging that they have strengths, skills, resilience and the ability to make informed choices and improve their wellbeing.

Clients develop their strengths, resilience and support networks based on the assumption that they come for help already in possession of various competencies and resources that may be used to improve their situation.

How we support our clients

Every client is allocated a key worker who supports them to co-produce their journey to wellbeing.

We offer a range of programmes which address three key areas of family life:

  • relationships within the family
  •  self-awareness and self-management
  •  wellbeing and mental health self-esteem and confidence

There are 3 main strands to our work:

  • parent/carer and child groups
  • wellbeing programmes
  • personal development programmes

Contact us if you need information about our programmes, advice or support on family life, or would like to volunteer or if you are looking for a charity to support which directly supports the Island community.

More information is available from our website Brighter Futures .
