Child Accident Prevention Jersey

Child Accident Prevention Jersey (CAPJ) is a multi-agency organisation dedicated to reducing the frequency and severity of accidental injury in children up to the age of 16 years in Jersey.

What does Child Accident Prevention Jersey (CAPJ) do?

CAPJ runs many projects and activities including cycle helmet promotion, trampoline safety and ‘Safety in Action Week’.

CAPJ is working with the Road Safety Panel to promote the changes in Jersey's seatbelt law.  Everyone must wear a seat belt in the front or rear of a car. Also, all children up to the age of 12 and under 1.35 meters (4ft 5in) must use an appropriate car seat on every journey - this means booster seat for older children.

Statistics have shown this law prevents up 2,000 child injuries and deaths in the UK every year. CAPJ encourages all parents, grandparents and carers to keep their children safe and use the right car seat for every journey.
