The Jersey Schools Review
These are independently led reviews of the quality of education offered by Jersey’s schools.
The first cycle of school reviews began in 2018. This was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. By summer 2024 the first cycle had been completed and review reports were published for all Government of Jersey schools.
During 2024 and early 2025 there has been a period of analysis and consultation. This has allowed the framework used for Jersey School Reviews to be updated.
The next cycle of school reviews is being scheduled from September 2025, where all schools across the Island will be reviewed again over a 3 to 4 year period.
The Jersey Standards for Independent Schools
Jersey's independent schools also receive compliance inspections. These check the school meets the requirements of the law and standards set out in the handbook.
Some independent schools opt to register with the UK Department of Education as
British Schools Overseas. They then engage in
Independent Standards Inspections (ISI).
These reports can be found in the tables below and on the school’s own website.

The purpose of reviews and inspections
Jersey Schools Reviews are used to evaluate:
- whether the school offers a suitably ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum to all its pupils
- how well a school promotes equity and inclusion to ensure all its pupils achieve well
- the quality and impact of the teaching and learning on offer
- the provision to support pupil wellbeing and personal development
- how well a school promotes positive behaviour, attitudes and attendance
- the impact of a school’s leadership and management
Jersey Standards for Independent School inspections are used to:
- offer a check against agreed minimum standards of safeguarding
- confirm compliance against required aspects of health and safety
- consider educational provision and compliance to the Jersey Curriculum
These inspections closely mirror the framework and guidance for the ‘compliance only’ inspections of British Schools Overseas. They are not designed to be as in-depth as the Jersey School Reviews in their analysis of curriculum, teaching and learning or the standards of personal development offered by the school.
Publishing reports enables us to:
- provide information to parents and carers
- confirm standards are being met in line with published benchmarks
- promote school improvement and encourage schools to work together
- promote transparency and that public money is being used effectively
Schools are complex organisations which continuously change and evolve. Each published report can only offer a point-in-time evaluation of the quality of education on offer.
We advise that you visit a school’s open days and events when considering the right place for your child.
How you give your comments
Parents and carers, staff and pupils are sent surveys allowing them to give feedback about their school during a Jersey School Review. This feedback helps the review team to consider your child’s experience of their school.
