Almost £3 million in tax rebates was returned to charities for the 2018 tax year, according to the latest figures from Revenue Jersey.

Delay in processing tax returns

The Comptroller of Taxes is advising islanders that their tax returns will take longer to process this year, because Revenue Jersey are inputting data from hard copy files to a new system.

Advice for taxpayers before tax return deadline

Revenue Jersey is reminding taxpayers where to get help with their tax returns before next week’s filing deadline.

Personal tax returns assessing progress

  • We are currently assessing simple returns (generally the short 4 page return) that we received during May, though there are some cases that are delayed for technical reasons.
  • We are currently assessing more complex returns (generally the full 8 page return) that we received during March, though there are a few cases that are delayed for technical reasons.

Someone you know sent in their return after you and got their assessment already?

We currently have a team of additional contracted staff, trained to undertake the most simple cases. This means some customers with very simple affairs may be receiving their assessments back very quickly, whilst other customer's cases are waiting for our qualified specialists.

We do appreciate some customers may think it's not 'fair' that some people are waiting less time than others, but our additional team allows us to deal with as many tax returns as quickly as we can.
