Cedar Ward

About Cedar Ward

Cedar Ward is a 14-bed inpatient unit for older adults with suspected functional mental illness, such as depression or psychosis. We provide 24-hour care for people whose mental health needs can’t be safely met in the community. Our team offers intensive assessment, treatment, and support to help plan the most appropriate care for you, either on the Ward or back in the community.

What to expect

When you arrive, we’ll welcome you to the Ward and show you around:
  • your single-occupancy bedroom
  • lounges and dining area
  • toilets and washing facilities

You’ll meet the nursing team and other patients. A nurse will be assigned to you and will be your main point of contact during your stay. Health Care Assistants support the nurses in delivering your care.

Ward rounds take place twice per week. Your nurse will let you know when your doctor is likely to see you. We can arrange for a nurse or doctor to speak with a family member if requested.

Medical support is available 24 hours a day, and the Ward Doctor visits daily.
