What is a Jersey variant British passport
Passports issued in Jersey are British passports. There is no such thing as a 'Jersey' passport.
Jersey-variant British passports are issued to British citizens. They are printed in the UK and sent to you.
These passports have the same legal status as any other full-validity British passport and gives the same rights, privileges and protections as any other British citizen.
This passport design only shows where it was issued and must not be used to determine the holder's category of British nationality.
Who can have a Jersey variant British passport
In general, Jersey variant British passports are only issued to local residents and to UK residents born in Jersey.
We can't issue a passport if the person is physically abroad at the time of application.
