Signs of early pregnancy
The earliest and most reliable sign of pregnancy is usually a missed period.
Other symptoms can include:
- morning sickness
- sore breasts
- weeing more often
- strange tastes, smells and cravings
Not all women will experience symptoms, so it's important to do a pregnancy test for confirmation.

Taking a pregnancy test
A positive test result is almost certainly correct. A negative result can be less reliable. If you get a negative result and still think that you may be pregnant, wait a week and try again.
You can use most pregnancy tests from the first day of a missed period. If you don't know when your next period is due, do the test at least 21 days after you last had unprotected sex.
