Before you can attend the Renal unit, you must have a referral from your doctor you cannot self refer.

Your appointment

We prioritise your first consultation by patient need. We will send you an appointment letter which explains the appointment process so you’ll know what to expect when you arrive. You need to have blood tests a week to 10 days before your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, you need to bring:

  • all medications you’re taking including prescriptive medications
  • any medicines you’ve bought such as herbal remedies and over the counter medication
  • information about any change in details such as a new mobile number, change of address or new GP

Changing your appointment

If you cannot attend or need to change your appointment, contact us as soon as possible, so we can arrange a new appointment for you.

Translation service

If you need a translator, let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange this ahead of your appointment.

Types of treatment

The type of treatment you have depends on what your appointment is for. You'll have an individual pathway according to your needs and stage of kidney disease.
