Response

A

The library at Haute Vallee is being distributed to departments with a focus on non-fiction within English and the Year 7 curriculum area of Horizon. The existing book stock has been moved to individual Department Areas to be loaned to students.

A new partnership between Grainville School, Haute Vallee and the Town Library has been agreed with the mobile library visiting both schools on a Friday. All students at KS3 will also become members of the Town library open all-year round. Both Haute Vallee and Grainville are investing in an annual six book reading challenge at KS3 as part of a Literacy initiative.

B

Grainville are distributing their books across departments with a central area for books.

C

Les Quennevais have a community library which is open to the public. This arrangement is intended to continue as part of the new school build plans.

Hautlieu and Le Rocquier will continue to provide a school library next academic year.

D

Bel Royal, d’Auvergne, First Tower, Grouville, Jersey College Prep, La Moye, Les Landes, Mont a l’Abbe, Mont Nicolle, Plat Douet, Rouge Bouillion, Samares, Springfield, St Clement, St John, St Lawrence, St Luke, St Martin, St Peter, St Saviour, Trinity and Victoria College Prep.

E

Jersey College for Girls and Victoria College will continue to provide a school library next academic year.

F

The information represents only States of Jersey maintained and fee-paying maintained schools. It does not include the private secondary schools Beaulieu Convent School and De La Salle College.

G

The libraries at Hautlieu, Jersey College for Girls, Le Rocquier, Les Quennevais and Victoria College are ran by paid librarians.

The remaining schools maintain their libraries with support from a teacher, teaching assistant or volunteer who are responsible for the up keep.

H

The Education Department do not hold information about a school library closure and are therefore not able to provide a response.
