The Dogs (Jersey) Law 1961 (Chapter 02.550) can be found on the Jersey Law website.

This information is not held by any States Department but we would refer the questioner to the Parishes of Jersey website below.

Under ‘Licences’ you will find a section relating to dog licences and dealing with a stray dog. The dog licence application form also contains specific information about stray dogs.

We can confirm the Dogs (Jersey) Law 1961 is currently under review by the Legislation Advisory Panel, the detail of the review is qualified exempt pursuant to Article 35 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, however, any proposed changes to the law will be made public in due course and will be subject to States Assembly approval.
