Don't throw batteries in the bin
In Jersey, we throw away more than 800,000 batteries each year.
Batteries shouldn't be thrown away with your general rubbish. Batteries contain metals and chemicals that can be recycled if you separate them and take them to a battery recycling bank.
VIDEO
Batteries that can be recycled Most types of household batteries can be taken to a battery bank, including:
all AAA and AA cells
sizes C and D
button batteries (watch batteries)
mobile phone batteries
rechargeable batteries
Vehicle / wet cell batteries
Vehicle batteries (car, motorcycle) can't be recycled at the battery banks. Instead, they should be taken to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre at La Collette.
